Garage Cleanout in Beaverton: Before and After

A typical garage cleanout in Beaverton starts with a two-car garage that has not held a car in years and ends the same afternoon with a swept concrete floor and a truck pulling away. In between: a photo, a written quote, and a crew that does all the carrying. This post walks through what that job usually looks like, from the first text to the last sweep, so you know what to expect before you send the picture. It describes a typical job, not one specific customer.

Before: what a Beaverton garage cleanout usually looks like

The photo we get is familiar. A garage door that opens onto a wall of stuff. Moving boxes from two houses ago, still taped. A treadmill under a tarp. Two bikes with flat tires, a third with no seat. Plastic bins of kids' clothes for kids who are now in college. Paint cans on a shelf. An old refrigerator in the corner, unplugged, door bungeed shut. Scrap lumber from a deck project. A broken patio set. Somewhere in the back, a workbench nobody has seen since the last presidential election.

The homeowner's note usually says some version of "we just want to park in here again."

That is the job. Nothing about it is unusual, and nothing about it needs an apology. We have seen the garage.

How the garage cleanout is quoted

From the photo, we size the load. A garage packed like the one above is usually a three-quarter load at $500 or a full truckload at $645. If the homeowner is keeping the workbench, the tools and the bikes, it might come down to a half load at $380. We ask a couple of questions by text:

  • Is everything going, or are some things staying?

  • Is the fridge empty and unplugged?

  • Anything heavy we cannot see, like a safe or bags of concrete?

  • Are the paint cans wet or dried out?

Then the quote goes back in writing. It covers the labor, the loading, the hauling, the sweep and the standard disposal. There is no add-on for the treadmill or the fridge. If the pile turns out smaller on the day, the price comes down. The tiers are on our prices page.

The paint cans are the one thing that comes off the list. Wet paint is regulated, so we point the homeowner to the right drop-off and take everything else. Dried-out cans are usually fine.

How the day goes

The crew arrives in the window we agreed on. First step is a walkthrough with the homeowner, five minutes, pointing at what stays. Painter's tape on anything that is not going works well. Then the truck backs into the driveway and the loading starts from the front of the garage and works toward the back.

Roughly in order:

  • Boxes and bins go first. They stack, and they clear the floor fast.

  • Furniture and the patio set. Anything usable is set aside for donation.

  • The treadmill. It is taken apart in the garage so it loads flat.

  • The refrigerator, on a dolly with floor protection. Appliance removal is part of the same trip, and the fridge goes to a recycler that handles refrigerant.

  • Scrap lumber and metal, sorted for recycling as they load.

  • The loose stuff. Bags, broken tools, the things that were under the other things.

The homeowner does not need to stay. Most people do the walkthrough and then go about their day. If something personal or valuable turns up mid-load, a photo album, a box of documents, a set of keys, it goes to the side and gets handed over, not hauled.

A two-car garage cleanout is usually done in a few hours. Bigger garages with heavy contents can take longer, and we say so in the quote.

After: what the garage looks like when we leave

Concrete. All of it. The crew sweeps the floor and the driveway before the truck leaves, so there is no pile of leftovers where the junk used to be. The workbench is still there if it was tagged. The bikes are along the wall if they stayed. The paint cans are in one spot with a note on where they go.

What usually surprises people is how much bigger the garage is than they remembered. Second is how fast it went. The photo took a minute, the quote came back the same day, and the whole thing was over before dinner.

Where the garage contents end up

Usable furniture and household goods are donated where possible. Metal, cardboard and clean wood go to recyclers. The fridge goes to a refrigerant recovery recycler. The rest goes to a licensed transfer station. Sorting is part of the job. It is not a separate service and it is not an extra charge.

Quick answers

How much does a garage cleanout cost in Beaverton?

A half-full single-car garage is a half load at $380. A large or fully packed garage runs $500 to $645. Send a photo and you get a written number the same day, with the labor, hauling and disposal included.

Do I need to sort the garage before you come?

No. Tag what stays and leave the rest. Pull out wet paint, fuel, propane tanks and chemicals, since those have to go to a licensed facility. Everything else we sort as we load.

Do you serve Beaverton and the rest of the west side?

Yes. Beaverton, Hillsboro and everything between there and Portland is inside our regular service area, with no fuel surcharge for the drive. See the residential junk removal page for what we clear from homes.

Ready to park in the garage again? Text a photo of the pile to 971-484-8909 or use the Request an Estimate form. You get a price first. Then we do the carrying.
